Environmental Commitment

Environmental management policies:

  1. Have you implemented an environmental management system in your operations (ex: ISO 14001, or other environmental management system recognized by a third party or internal environmental management system)?

We have implemented internal procedures for an environmentally friendly purchasing, handling and disposal of all waste items and packaging. We are waiting for ISO approvals.

2. Depending on the supplier of equipment most all equipment is delivered with Eco-labels that indicate certification of lab and science equipment products as being environmentally preferable.

3. Chemical management policy

Our Commitment

Shefah Group is committed to the safe and responsible use of chemicals throughout our operations. We recognize the potential impact chemicals can have on human health and the environment, and we strive to minimize these risks.

Policy Statement

This policy outlines the principles and practices we follow to ensure the safe handling, storage, use, and disposal of chemicals across our entire supply chain.

Risk Assessment and Reduction

  • Inventory Management: We maintain a comprehensive inventory of all chemicals used in our operations. This inventory includes information on the chemical’s hazard classification, safety data sheet (SDS), and recommended handling procedures.
  • Hazard Assessment: We conduct regular assessments to identify the potential hazards associated with each chemical we use. This assessment considers factors such as the chemical’s toxicity, flammability, and reactivity.
  • Substitution: We prioritize the use of safer alternatives whenever possible. We actively seek out less hazardous or non-hazardous materials that can perform the same function.
  • Engineering Controls: We implement engineering controls to minimize employee exposure to chemicals. This may include ventilation systems, containment devices, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Employee Training: We provide comprehensive training to all employees who handle or work around chemicals. This training covers safe handling procedures, emergency response protocols, and the proper use of PPE.

Supplier Selection

We partner with suppliers who share our commitment to responsible chemical management. Here’s how we choose our suppliers:

  • Chemical Management Policy Review: When selecting a new supplier, we review their chemical management policies and practices to ensure they align with our own high standards.
  • Chemical Disclosure: We require suppliers to disclose information on the chemicals used in their products. This allows us to assess the potential risks associated with the materials we source.
  • Certifications: We may give preference to suppliers who hold certifications related to responsible chemical management practices, such as ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) or Responsible CareĀ®.

Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continuously improving our chemical management practices. We will regularly review and update this policy to reflect new regulations, best practices, and evolving technologies.
